Bob's Review of Meopta MeoPro HD 10x42mm Roof Prism Binocular
Mt Meopros came in a few days ago and I have really been enjoying them since. I set out to buy the best I could in this price range and I was not disappointed. I'm not experienced enough in optics to say what spending more money would get me but I'm extremely happy. Quality built and many many great reviews all over the internet.
My use is bird and wildlife watching and the roof prism style appealed to me as I think they will be smaller and easier to have with me more often in case I see something in the distance. The adjustment points are just the right stiffness that I don't have to readjust every time I raise them to my eyes except of course the focus distance.
The colors and definition of the target objects is much better than I expected. The construction is great and the ergonomics took only a few minutes to get used to over my old porro prism style binoculars.
I was very close on a pair of Nikon Monarch 7 and I went back and forth on 8x42 vs 10x42. I settled on the 10x42 wanting the bigger magnification and the field of view was still far superior to my old binoculars. I find I have no trouble at all holding these still. Still waiting for a clear night to try them at some newbie astronomy but my primary purpose was during the day.
Oh and the 5 foot minimum focus distance is awesome fun too. I never thought about binoculars for things that close. Tiny wildlife is really neat to watch.
