Most Helpful Positive Review Some Reviewers Might be Wrong
As pictured, the tight has an upper part which rotates on the lower part, which has the threaded screw by which it is threaded into the Front sight base. IOW , the upper part, containing the Tritium-illuminated post rotates independently of the base. For sighting-in, simply dial-in the sight, as a...

Most Helpful Negative Review Don't Buy Just the Front Sight!
The front sight does glow sufficiently for low light operations, but without a rear night sight, you cannot effectively center the front sight within the rear sight unless there is enough light to see the rear sight. This makes the front sight alone useless in no-light situations. Lesson learned: ...

Wrong style

I'm sure it would work on mostAR rifles but not mine I have a rifle made by Radical firearms, my mistake I guess

Good budget option

by K, Verified Owner from UT, United States Written on September 22, 2024
Definitely not bad to upgrade your front Magpul back up iron sight. Not extremely bright, but will do the job. Keep in mind- the front sight tool that comes with the Magpul MBUS probably wont fit this sight post, so you'll either have to get another one or just adjust it by hand (easy!).

very cool feature: the upper part of the post swivels for easy adjusting.
Pros:
  • Affordable
  • fits magpul mbus
Cons:
  • Not Very Bright
Best Used for:
  • back up iron sight upgrade

Excellent front sight post

by JB, Verified Owner from GA, United States Written on June 16, 2024
A very inexpensive upgrade to any AR. The sight post provides a very visible aiming point at night without the use of batteries. Even if you have night vision equipment, at some point you will run out of a way to power them. When that happens, having an alternative in place and ready to use is a win win. Back in the day (M16A1) the tritium front sight left a bit to be desired in that you either had to be one click high or low on your zero and then had to black out the opposing side to prevent observation from down range. Meprolight has fixed all of that. The part of the post that contains the tritium rotates on the base so that once you get a good zero you depress the detent and rotate the tritium dot into view. And if it cause's a distraction while wearing NVD rotate it one click out of the way and drive on until you need it. I really do like this front sight post and recommend it to everyone.

What a letdown, The Tritium is almost nonexisting...I had to look Real Hard 3 time to see anything...You would be better off putting fingernail polish on the front sote post. This is in the mail for return in the AM. SAVE YOU MONEY ON THIS ONE.
Pros:
  • None
Cons:
  • CAN'T SEE ANY TRITIUM GLOW
Best Used for:
  • nothing

by rocky, from OK, United States Written on September 10, 2020
This is quite possibly the best low light to no light front sight for an AR that I have ever purchased. Also functions as normal during all other lighting situations ,I would highly recommend getting the rear sight as well. Excellent investment....

Meprolight Illuminated Front Sight Post

by Joe, from OH, United States Written on May 18, 2020
I am excited to try this illuminated sight! Hopefully it will solve my low light iron sight shooting issues. Caution: This is a 5 pin FSP not a traditional 4 pin so you will have to get a 5 pin tool to install this sight.

Excellent choice

by Shooter, from PA, United States Written on April 3, 2020
Works just as I had hoped. Easy to pick up in the dark. Easy to install. Going to order another. I really believe this is a better choice than a red dot and faster to bring to arms and does not add weight to my lite weight build.
Pros:
  • well built
Cons:
  • None

My second purchase of this front sight.

by usadriver, Verified Owner from AL, United States Written on August 10, 2019
This is my second purchase of this front sight. The first one went on my M16/AR15A1 & this one will go on my M16/AR15A2. I sure wish I'd had a front sight like this when I was in the Army years ago. If you're in the dark to near total darkness, this sight sure helps out. Now I'll have this type front sight from now on as long as they're available anyway.
Pros:
  • Very visable in the dark.
Cons:
  • Make sure you have a good installation tool that fits this type front sight. Without it, it's near impossable to get it installed
