Meprolight mpo-df: don't tell anyone!!! - Meprolight MPO-DF Open Emitter Pistol Sight with RMR Footprint 3.5 MOA Dot

I purchased the Meprolight MPO-DF to mount on a FN 509T NMS NS which has an RMR footprint. I like that this sight comes standard with a picatinny mount. I'm considering purchasing additional for long guns like my Marlin 1894 and AR-15s. The sight mounted easily after figuring out which plate adapters and screws to use. The FN 509T comes with a wide range of adapters and screws. Installing and replacing the battery is easy with the battery tray on the side. It's good knowing that the battery can be replaced without having to remove the sight. The battery tray remained securely in place throughout the range session. This optic has both self and user adjusted brightness. This was one of the most important factors in choosing an optic for my handgun. Our environment lighting changes constantly and sometimes without warning. The auto adjusting light function virtually elimites the possibility of target washout. Initial sight in was done by using the factory suppressor height sights. Yhe adjustments were repeatable and solid with audible clicks. I moved the red dot to hover just above the three dot iron sights. Just as predicted, the group printed just below the group fired with the factory sights. The glass is clear and no reflections were experienced when using the weapon light. The field of view is sufficient and what i'd consider optimal for a personal defense carry weapon. The single button operation is easily accessible and intuitive. It's almost impossible to accidentally make changes to the optic's functionality. This is one if the most affordable, user friendly and feature loaded RMR sights on the market. I've only had one range session with this optic and time will tell the ultimae story. I planned the range session during shifting light at dusk. The red dot remains visible and not overpowering during shifting of light. I had my Streamlight TLR-1 attached and used it several times during low light and the dot was still visible when illuminating my target and easy to pick up with the eye. The sight remained on target and produced very tight groups. I am pleased with my purchase so far and hats off to Meprolight for producing this feature loaded RMR sight at a fraction of the cost of their competitors. Let's keep this between us and not let Meprolight know they are offering such a bargain!!!
