Patriotic Realist's Review of Midwest Industries AKG2 Universal M-Lok Model

I have a ZenitCo B31/B32 setup on my PSA GF3 Moekov rifle, but it's a bit chunky and heavy. I decided to remove it and try an MI handguard since I have never had issues with their products. All rifles require a bit of sanding to the plastic anti-rotation wedge that slots into the front of the receiver to tie it to the back end of the handguard. The PSA GF3 also required the front end of the gas tube sanded back a bit where it would retain the front of the upper handguard wood. It is nothing difficult or troublesome.
Overall I have found the MI AKG2 handguard a high quality piece. This style of handguard directly clamps onto the barrel with a saddle block screwed onto the lower handguard with four Allen screws. It is NOT going to move around. The T-Slots have markings on them. The handguard is straight, clean, sturdy and very light. The rail doesn't interfere with the iron sights at all. The QB swivel points are made properly. The instructions are succinct and adequate. The handguard is very slim and svelte. I did not test an optic on the upper rail but the screw heads have large tapers to the head so it should lock it down well to repeat zero for you. The handguard retaining cap slid up to the front of the handguard and demonstrated appropriate tension to lock it in place (it is not needed for the MI AKG2, however.
