Bensworth Drummington's Review of Midwest Industries Gen 2 AK Rear Bias Side Mount

I don't know how Midwest screwed this up. My lower mount wouldn't work because the manufactured the tension nut incorrectly and it wasn't threaded all the way though. They sent me a new one. That's when I realized that the mount had no left or right adjustability to it. The 2 screws that you loosen to allow for adjustability have a slot cut for the head of the screws, but not the body of the screws, so at most these mounts have like 10 thousandths of left to right movement. I emailed Midwest and the guy told me the hopes should be "oval" shaped. Mine were perfectly round. I showed them pictures of the mount and he was like, "don't lose sleep over it man, it'll be fine" I told them that was disappointing customer service and they lost my business, so they mailed me another mount (different from the one I had) and it had THE SAME ISSUE.
I don't typically say this, as I'm not trying to brag, but I'm a mechanical engineer of 5 years. I worked on automated machines, and adjustability is everywhere. So how in the world they managed to design and manufacture a mount that has everything needed for adjustability, including a slot for the head of the screws, to only drill a hole on the bottom for the body of the screw, meaning there is no left or right adjustability, is literally baffling. Someone at Midwest screwed the pooch big time.
