Brian's Review of Midwest Industries MIG2SUBR Sub-2000 Top Rail Mount Black Hardcoat Anodized

I'd read this by others as well, they stating that the top mount doesn't pull down tightly after it's spun into action. I have that exact problem. The joint remains separated and can be wiggled when in position. It's a crapshoot whether your site 'hit the mark' after each spin. I'm keeping this only because it'll probably be used for close-quarters action only, under 20 yards, so it'll be 'close enough'. I also have a laser mounted to the bottom rail as a primary or backup, and I've considered sending this back in favor of just the laser.

The red dot reflex site is now so high that a good cheek weld to the stock is impossible, another issue, but it's better than trying to use the TOO LOW peep sites mounted by the factory on the Sub2000.

Be wary of how you mount it on the M-lock rail, be sure it's decently aligned, or you'll have issues zeroing in your sight.

I'm being generous by giving it three stars, but I like the way it'll fold relatively flat under the rifle for storage purposes in the custom briefcase I've built for it. The fold under design is the only reason I chose this over the Mcarbo.

IMHO the price would be more accurate at $40 considering the above. Not at all reliable for anything other than close quarters combat.
Pros:
  • Convenience and storage
Cons:
  • Doesn't lock in, too high, unreliable mount.
Best Used for:
  • Close quarters combat
Would Recommend: No
