Perfect Fall Layer

by Steve, Verified Owner from DE, United States Written on October 22, 2023
Looks great. The size is correct and it fits great. Plenty of room for more layers underneath for colder weather too. It's a double layer jacket which means it is warmer than just a windbreaker. I stay warm in 50F degree weather with only a long sleeve shirt underneath. Paired with a hoodie I am comfortable in freezing weather. This jacket could easily be your main winter shell depending on your base layers.
Pros:
  • Lightweight
  • Comfortable
  • Correct size
  • Looks good works better
Cons:
  • None

Kelty Replacement

by Stik, from NC, United States Written on June 21, 2023
I purchased this anorak as a replacement for an old Kelty anorak that I used for years as a windbreaker that spent as much time crumpled in the bottom of my pack as it did on my back. The old Kelty was hard to beat, but no longer available. This anorak from Optics Planet is even BETTER! It has an outer shell similar in weight to the Kelty, but also has in inner liner of similar weight thus increasing its wind resistance. The larger kangaroo pocket is every bit as serviceable as the Kelty, but is improved with a flap over the zipper (which the Kelty does not have). I’m 6’, 217 pounds and the 3XL fit me nice-and-loose allowing for layering. This is primarily a windbreaker, I think, and not a rain coat, so don’t expect to stay dry in a downpour. The only drawback, I feel, is that it does not have the pass-thru handwarmer pockets as did the Kelty. Just the same, I like it so much I’m thinking of ordering a second one so I don’t later have to go shopping for a replacement some years down the road.
Pros:
  • Light weight, two-layer construction, roomy, compactible.
Cons:
  • Shallow hand-warmer pockets.
Best Used for:
  • Windbreaker. Extra emergency layer.
