Huge upgrade + it fits mega+ transducer - Minn-Kota FORTREX 80, 45" 1368660

I bought this trolling motor mainly so I could mount my mega+ transducer to it. (Mega+ has a minamal 80lb trolling motor requirement for mounting.) The motor is a little overkill possibly for my Triton 17ctx but it does perform so much better with the added power. Longer run times and it handles the wind so much better. I really didn't think much of the digital maximizer speed control when I ordered it but it is amazing having more than 5 predetermined speeds. With this you can pick anywhere from 0-100 and really dial in the perfect speed for each different condition. The mount is way sturdier and has a spring operated break away action for when you drill something underwater, haven't tested that yet but it's nice knowing it's there on top of the lifetime warranty shaft they use. Also mounts using the same hole patterns as other Minn kotas so swapping out my little edge 45lb was easy. If you're looking to upgrade and want to stay with the simplicity of a cable steer I highly recommend the fortrex.
