Legacy Reviewer's Review of MTM Ammo Can Organizer Insert
My ammo boxes were getting a little messy with ammo just poured into them. I decided to find something to help me get more organized, especially when I have two or three types of ammo in one box.
Fortunately, it didn't take me long to find exactly what I was looking for; and made by MTM no less. I have found every product I have bought from MTM to be very durable and easy to use.They call it the "AMMO ORGANIZER INSERT". Basically, you have three divided inserts that fit right into any standard sized ammo can. They're made from a durable plastic and are very sturdy.You can fit up to three "Shelves" in one standard size ammo can." They stack easily one on top of the other.
The first thing I did was to put 800 rounds of .45 .acp ammo on the lower two shelves. Now's a good time to tell you each shelf has handles on both sides, to make it easy to remove and replace them. When the ammo was neatly stored, I used the third shelf for some tools, cleaner, and lubricant that I would need at the range. I was set to go. Not only are they partitioned and durable, you'll have the neatest ammo box at the range.
Eventually I decided to use them for ammo only, and one box was for all my cleaning and gunsmithing tools. What is so great about them is I have everything I need for my .45 handguns on one shelf, the second shelf has everything I need for my Ar-15, and the top shelf has everything for my AK-47.
When it's time to clean my handguns, I just take out the shelf designated for it, and everything is right there. No more scrambling around trying to find this or that, because it's already waiting for you. If I have to clean my AR-15, I have a shelf for everything I need for that as well.
As you can see, though I was looking for a way to organize my ammo, I found another use for them that has made my life so much easier; and cleaning my firearms takes less time than ever before. I never realized how much longer it took to clean my firearms until I finally got organized. You will probably find other uses for them as well. For instance, if you are going to the range with your shotgun and handgun; you have your ammo for both in the same box, but on different shelves. Just take out the shelf with the ammo for you handgun, and enjoy shooting. When it's time for the shotgun, place the pistol tray back in the box after you have taken out your shotgun shell shelf.
These are an inexpensive way to get a little more organized and save you a lot of time as well. Instead of digging around your range bag for whatever you need; everything you need is right on the shelf you set up.
The MTM Ammo Can Organizer was money well spent. I would not hesitate recommending them to you. They are chemical resistant, and easy to wash with water and some soap if they get dirty over time. Leave it to MTM to come up with a great way to store your goodies. I know you will find them very useful, even if you leave them on your workbench where you clean your guns. Enjoy, and shoot safely.
