Case gard for the 50 bmg round - MTM Slip-top Ammo Box for 50 BMG and .416 Barrett Holds 10 Rounds Black BMG10-40

I have been using these boxes for years and I find them a convenient way to transport these cannon shells to the range. I use duct tape as a writing surface and apply it to the main part of the box. A Sharpie pen works best and after the ink dries, you have a record of that particular load in the box. If you load your rounds long, they might touch the bottom but I have never had a problem with this. When removing the duct tape, I sometimes have to clean up the adhesive residue and mineral spirits on a rag works for me. Comes clean for the next tape application.
Simple in design, it does the job. My only wish is that the slip top was more secure. You have to grab the main body or squeeze the top rather hard so it doesn't slip off when pulling out of an ammo can. A 50 cal can will hold 5 of these boxes nicely with room to spare. I abandoned the practice of wrapping each box with a length of double-sided Velcro as I found that they would 'marry' each other in the can and I ended up pulling out two or three boxes! For the price, I can deal with the minor inconvenience of grabbing them by the top.
