F4 Phantom Electrician's Review of NcSTAR Green Micro Dot Mount & Rail SKS Combo

I should have known that this wouldn't just fit as it is supposed to being that it is made in China. I had to take my Dremel tool and carefully grind away the lower front bevel because it was not allowing the mount to seat in my Tula SKS.
I also had to file and grind the take down hole and channel for the alignment pin because it was binding about halfway through the hole/channel. It was as if they drilled halfway through, then flipped it over then drilled halfway through from the other side. Very frustrating because who in their right mind does something this idiotic?
After filing/grinding and constantly checking fitment, I finally got the dimensions to where it now fits my Russian Tula SKS. I painted all of the filed/ground surfaces with rifle black and again checked fitment to see where there were anymore areas of binding/rubbing and so far things are good.
Is it worth it? Yeeaaah, if you want to mount an optic on your SKS but, be aware that you need to be VERY careful and check your fitment to your own version and go slowly, be handy with tools or, have a gunsmith do it for you.
As usual with ANYTHING that is made in China, BUYER BEWARE. Yes, you can get lucky and not have any issues but, I believe most of us know that it is a 50/50 chance.
Pros:
  • Able to mount Optics to your SKS
Cons:
  • You must file and grind carefully to get it to fit your SKS
Best Used for:
  • Mounting optic accessories
