Nice monocular. great product for a great price - Night Optics D-300 Gen 2+ Standard Night Vision Monocular

I never owned a gen 2 device before so my knowledge was based on forums, reviews, and videos. I have to say I was very impressed. The image is very clear, and on a star lit no moon night I could clearly see objects at 100yds at the end of my rural very dark property. Once its properly focused you can easily make out details. The IR illuminator is really only useful at close range or indoors, and not necessary under star light. But under really dark skies you will want something more substantial for longer ranges - probably true for any of these devices.

It has no gate so you need to use caution and keep the daytime lens cap on whenever in a lit area or you can damage the tube. One problem, and the reason it didn't get 4 stars is the daytime lens cap has a very flimsy retaining cable. And it broke just under normal use removing it from the device. I was lucky to be standing on concrete so it was easy to find. But it was easy to repair so not a big deal. A better daytime lens cap retainer might be something Night Optics should consider for an otherwise great product.
