Colton See's Review of Night Optics D-300 Gen 2+ Standard Night Vision Monocular
I seen this while browsing and tried to research it more. My search left me highly disappointed, there’s only one video on YouTube and it isn’t the greatest so that left me with trusting the reviews here. Let me tell ya, they ain’t wrong. This is a fabulous unit for the price. It’s certainly no PVS14 but it’s not lacking much. I was able to see a barn at 300yds under a full moon. The built IR isn’t very good, in fact it just plan sucks unless you’re using it for walking. With some decent ambient light you can see farther with the IR off vs when it’s on. When it’s on you get a flood effect and can see great in the IR path but beyond the beam is flooded out to the point that you can’t see past the beam. The one I received does have blems in the tube. It’s not noticeable unless you’re looking for it, which typically wouldn’t be a big deal except mine is dead center zone 1. I should probably knock a star off for that reason but chose not to because of how well it preforms so far. It also comes with a nice padded case for storage. As far as viewing critters and such, so far I’ve been ok about 70yds or so. Now that was also under a full moon. I have a Dbal coming in a few days, hopefully I can give an update when I try it with a better IR.
Pros:
- Inexpenseive
- Exceeded my expectations
Cons:
- might have blems in the tube
Best Used for:
- someone new to NV
- an inexpensive spare
Would Recommend:
Yes
