Enthusiast's Review of Night Optics D-300 Gen 2+ Standard Night Vision Monocular

I bought these at $899 using coupon combined with sale price. I figured for close to gen 1 prices why not. Well it got here and after a basic shake down I am pretty impressed. Is it a pvs-14 no but it compares favorably. I ran it out to 60yards under moonlight and no problems making out fine details will probably do 100 based on performance, way better than anything in this price range. Honestly I was gonna buy these to motivate me to buy another set of gen 3's. After running these a few nights though I think they are keepers. Tube quality is pretty good with one small black spec at the 8 o'clock spot. They focus very well. I tend to use ir as little as possible and these allowed me to do so much more than imagined, the ir works well and picture focuses remarkably well. Without autogating off feature, will have to be a bit more careful than the gen 3s . It is heavier than my polymer gen 3's but no overly so. Lastly I wish the off/on/if switch locked (like lift then turn) between setting as I could see it turning on in a pouch or switching to ir at the wrong time. Either way they are worth the cost, gen 1 stuff doesn't come ANYWHERE close, I've try a few of the highest rated and just shook my head. Glad I picked them up and will let my buddies compare these and pvs-14's to help them chose.
