Go ahead and get this, it seems to be the cheapest option available and a great vaule for the money, although it does not pack all the features of a more advanced HD camera scope, it weighs almost half as much as those others. Another advantage is the very simple operation and qucik start-up, I love the simple operation and the selectable reticles, the built IR lamp is 850ma so there is really no need for an addtional lamp. The IR lamp is only needed in total darkness and it works well. The image is very clear in total darkness. When there is a lot of bright street lamps and similar lighting sources it can cause some wash out in the screen, i'm sure this is common with all scopes in this class, these scopes realy exccel in total darkness. The screen is always Black and white day or night and is 720p, which is completely fine for the purpose as black/white is teh best night vision option. The scope works okay on low cloudy light days, but it is not truely intended for daytime use, no problem since you wouldnt want to use this type of scope in the day anyway, it's easily removed as it is attached with 2 thumbs screws, take it off and attach your day scope. Scope looks really good on an AR.
