I was given one of these as a birthday present. It works but is difficult to use as focusing requires front and rear adjustments (1st generation 'optics').
The greatest disappointment is the poor focus across the image field - the optics are highly distorted away from the centre of vision. Also, with the IR activated the image is too bright for comfort in enclosed spaces.
I appreciated it as a gift. If buying for myself, I would go for a digital type for better image quality.
Pros: relatively cheap
Cons: poor focus/ extremely bright image with IR hurts!
