Know what you want - NightForce NX8 1-8x24mm Capped LPVO Rifle Scope, 30mm Tube, First Focal Plane (FFP)

The whining about the reticle on this scope is wrong. You must know what you're buying, how you will use it and what your needs are. The single mistake Nightforce made with this glass is to put exposed elevation turrets on it. That invites people who are uniformed to start twisting it when they get beyond 100yds. Leave the thing alone and use the excellent reticle that you paid for. It is precise and is there to be used. This was NOT designed to be used like a target scope. Sight it in and shoot it. If you need elevation changes use the wonderful gradations provided. They are there for a reason, not just to take up space on the lense. I watched a near novice hit 1/3 metal men at 300 yds with boring regularity simply by using the reticle properly. That spells dead deer, dead hogs and if you're careful, dead coyotes.
For my part, this will allow my 6.8 with a Wilson Combat 14.7" barrel to shoot 6" groups at 500 yds with a 4 mil hold. Why? I use the hold over as fine cross hairs and like magic, the bullets hit where I aim. That is far more "precision" than I need or most people can shoot anyway. Is it a perfect scope?, nope; they don't exist. Is it one of the best?, without a doubt.
