Philip Athy's Review of NightStar 6x52mm Digital Night Vision Monocular
Right out of the box the unit did not turn on. Optics planet was closed so I called Night Star's number from the enclosed paperwork. The woman answered, "Hello"? No business name or anything helpful, just "Hello?".
I asked, "Is this Night Star"? She paused and said, "yes."
I told her, "I just opened the box from Optics Planet with a Night Star monocular in it, and nothing came on. I tried 3 different, new, batteries and still nothing."
She said, "Did you put in batteries?" -I said, "Are you deaf? I just told you, I put in 3 batteries and nothing comes on."
She asked me what model I had and I said there wasn't a model number on the box. I told her it was "a 6 X 50 Night Star Monocular." She said, [and I quote], "we don't sell those!" WHAT? So I argued with her a little more and she said, "take pictures of it and send". I did. Since there's no '6 x 50' on the box, I wondered if she was right.
After a few minutes of waiting I texted her and asked if she got what she needed and she texted back, "No." That's all.. just, "No". I said, "You need to learn how to communicate with customers. What more do you need?"
She said, "send it in, we fix and send back". I said, "I didn't pay for a broken Monocular to send off and get fixed", and hung up.
When I got hold of OPlanet, they were very nice and offered me a refund or replacement. In the meantime I found the box my old NV Monocular came in, which was great, so I chose to get IT, what I had before, the ATN DNVM-4. With the discount it turned out less money than the Night Star, even with adding a Site Mark IR Illuminator. NOT Happy with Night Star!
