Led bulbs: good idea - bad design result - Nite Ize LRB-07-PR LED Upgrade Kit for Most C and D Cell Flashlights

First I would like to say that your sales system is very good. I appreciate the prompt updates on both the order and the shipping status.

I purchased 8 LED replacement flashlight bulbs (Nite ize LRB-07-PR upgrades)

They are terrible. I have many different flashlights and they will fit only two. The problem is that the light producing part of the bulb is is physically too low to reach the focal point of the reflectors. Therefore the light is bright inside the lens but cannot form a coherent beam outside of the flashlight. The flashlights only provide about 25% of the usable light a normal bulb would project. Straight out of the package one bulb was completely dead.

I would like to return 6 bulbs and keep only 2.

The flashlights that are semi-acceptable are an adjustable focus 3-cell Kel-lite with the adjustment at one extreme and a military 2-cell Fulton. Both are acceptable for close work but neither will provide a usable beam at 30 yards. With these my primary goal was to extend the battery life and to provide a usable work light up close.

I would be interested in other brands of LED upgrade bulbs if you have them and if they will work better due to proper design.


Pros: Very long battery life.
Cons: Considerably less light than incandescent bulbs.
