Robert's Review of NiteSite Eagle Dark Ops Elite Night Vision System

Just received after a 3 month wait... Ugh
Nicely packaged
Includes quick start up guide, however to completely understand, i went to the NiteSite website and downloaded the manuals..
Mounts up nice and easy
Powered up... no problem
Mounted on two scopes - Night Force NXS 2.5 - 15 power and a SIG 3 to 12
I was viewing from 80 yard to 210 yards
Both scopes worked well at around 6pwr i could see a house cat out to 200yds..of course to verify the critter i would zoom in a little.
I switched on the lighted reticle on both scopes...the reticle light would need to be set on low, because it would wash out the screen but really did not need these turned on to see the dot or cross hair.
The new units you are able to dial the focus in on the rear this is without hesitation the way to go , Thank You!
The range finder worked like it should and when turned on has a pulsating line that the camera picks up and shows you where you are ranging. I thought the Illuminator Dark ops would be completely dark..however there is a red glow..the support center in Texas said this is normal..the None dark opps model has a really bright red glow, The Dark opps glow is alot less but is there..so far none of the critters noticed.

Pros - Most all of this is plastic..It is really light...Screen is away from your eye, no night blindness when you look up, easy to adjust the intensity of the illuminator and the screen back light...Video and voice are nice to have and was super simple to use
Con...The range finder has a Male picatinny rail mount..i think this should be the female end
The Illuminator Module should have a Female picatinny on the base also (note: a metal picatinny adapter is available to fit on this)
The picatinny is my preference with QD mounts..quick on and off...just saying
Overall so far after several hours of playing... and would like to mention calling the Texas support center to discuss questions i have has been Great..!
Will revisit my post at a late date
Pros:
  • Light - Easy to use - Buy one use on many scopes
Cons:
  • Need Picatinny mounts
Best Used for:
  • Night hunting and surveillance
Would Recommend: Yes
