Jamie's Review of Primary Arms OPMOD 4-14x44mm Rifle Scope, 30mm Tube, First Focal Plane (FFP)

Thank you Primary Arms and Optics Planet! For giving us such a great deal on this scope. It really is a perfect DMR scope for the average infantryman. I am no expert on optics, but I know what glass clarity and distortions are, because I have worn glasses all my life. The quality of this glass is shockingly good. For me, the Magnification is good for targets out to about 300 yards maybe 400, but that is pushing it. I am using it on a Tavor 7 which is 7.62 if you did not know, and I did need to use some 1.25 in scope rings on it, 1.5 was too tall for a proper zero as the Tavor has a 2" bore axis below the rail. Its standard zero is set for an AR 15/10, be aware of that.

There are a couple of things you need to be aware of because you would not normally think it is a problem. The mil-dot knobs are tall and if you want to install a red dot on top or at an offset 45, they may interfere with the sight picture. There is no speed knob and I could not figure out on, but there is a single screw hole that you maybe able to find a certain knob? There are no caps for it, but you can easily find some of those, which will add to the cost. The red optic light is plenty bright for daylight.

It isn't a red dot, so don't expect it to be. This scope is not for quick target acquisition, it is a DMR scope and intended for engaging targets past 100 yards. If all you do is go to the range, don't get the extra magnification unless you have poor eyesight. The first focal plane is really fantastic, but I just can't get over how small the reticle is at 4x, it is a red dot at that point.

For the price you simply cannot beat this Primary arms scope, if you want more of a hunting reticle there is one of those available too.
