Alicia's Review of Optima AO 3-9x40mm Rifle Scope
We got this scope to put on a 22 for beating around on the farm. I stopped buying scopes with ordinary duplex crosshairs, since models with hold-off marks are so much more useful. The mil-dots in this scope are clear and round, unlike another budget brand that I returned in the past. The adjustable objective is the other feature that is a bonus on a budget scope. It is great to be able to eliminate the fuzziness of the target at 50 or 100 or even 150 yards on a 22 scope. The adjustable objective can also be used as a “poor man’s” rangefinder by looking at the distance number on the scope when the target is clear. Ever since we bought it, it’s been riding in the gun rack in the truck window, and it’s still holding zero so far. Hopefully it will last a while!
In conclusion, I would recommend this scope to a friend and will buy another one if I need a 22 scope again. And I want to say to the competitors of this scope. The scopes that I passed over in this price range had ordinary reticles, or some large, ridiculous “sniper” reticle that seemed cartoonish. I don’t care about illuminated reticles either. Be it one or two colors or 36 colors. I usually don’t even put the batteries in them. I don’t want the batteries seeping juice and causing corrosion at some point later in time. Please build more budget friendly scopes with a mil-dot or MOA based reticle and offer more models with an adjustable objective. Thanks!
