Osprey Global 5-30X56 Mil Dot Reticle
OK, So with more than a little trepidation I thought I would try this one out. I have NEVER before paid more for the optic than the rifle...……...so... had to try it. btw I am a preferred Leupold guy. so it takes a lot for me to trust a new brand
Just to make the initial testing more interesting...……. The scope went right on the rifle, within an hour of rifle purchase, a TC Compass, no muzzle brake, 300 Win Mag. total weight with scope, just a little under 9lb 8oz with steel rings. no barrel pre treat, no pre cleaning, Yeah it has a bit of recoil. 2 boxes of 180 remmingtons and 2 boxes win brass with 190 Accubonds. Removed the bolt, visually down the bore sighted at 50 yards, moved reticle, sighted in for 300 yds, 8 rds, ready to test the remaining 3 -1/2 + boxes. at least 2 minutes between shots. Shooting spread out over 2 days.
Scope held up much better than I did. Vertical line at 200 yards was only 1.5" wide, vertical line at 400 yards only 3.25 wide.
I found that I could handle the recoil at 15x, at 30 X standard Eye relief of 3.5 inches was not quite enough. moved my head back about 2 inches until the scope visible field filled about 3/4 of the scope diameter, with the field centered on the reticle, and felt a little safer, with no change in observable point of impact at 400,
80 rounds with no muzzle brake, scope held true, largest 5 shot group of the day at 400 yards was 7.25, smallest was 5-1/2
Love the light weight,
love the brightness,

Osprey 5-30x56
I was a sniper in the army and I have to say for the money it’s done very well we used the Leupold mark 4 and so far this has done just as well . I was very skeptical about purchasing this because I heard mixed reviews but so far in this is just my opinion it’s done excellent .
