The main part of the sling swivel is a single piece of cast stainless steel. The portion that the sling passes through is about 1/8 inch wide and 3/32 inch thick. I don't see any chance you could break this in the field, as reviewers of other brands of sling swivels have reported in other product reviews. It costs a bit more, but how much would a dropped gun that was damaged in the fall cost you?
