The 1490 case and laptop insert will outlast the laptop it protects. Simple modifications to the padding will adjust to bigger laptops. I carried mine through a 16 month tour in Afghanistan with no damage to my laptop. I highly recommend it, as well as the Pelican Micro cases for protection of digital cameras in bad environments.
