This case weighs 20 lbs. empty ! It's rugged and closes securely BUT it's heavy. Add a 12 lb rifle and you're carrying over 32 lbs. at the range. The foam is open cell so it absorbs and holds moisture. The instructions caution you about using the case in humid environments.
