philiop2001's Review of Pelican 25in ATX Carry On Hard Sided Luggage
After a check in agent ripped apart the integrated TSA lock on my Elite Weekender bag during a declaration check (and fighting to get them to replace the bag for 2.5 months) I finally took the funds they gave me and purchased this bag with it. Clearly Pelican have learned some lessons from the Elite series, most notably the modularity.
It's just as heavy as the previous version, but I feel as though I actually have MORE space in the ATX than I did in the Elite, though I'll need to get used to having to lay the bag flat when open (i used to use the hotel room luggage rack and prop the (shallower) lid against the wall.
Wheels are smooth and grippy, though I'd love for someone to figure out bearings that actually keep things moving smoothly on carpeted airport floors.
The handles are probably my favorite part- both the soft close grabbers and the multi-height (and importantly standard width) drag handle - I can finally slide my compatible packs over the handle instead of having to do some weird lashing of the bag to the oversized drag handle on the Elite.
