Vilkus's Review of PELTOR Sport Tactical 500 Electronic Hearing Protection Ear Muffs w/Bluetooth
As I write this review I have the Peltor Sport Tactical headphones on with Bluetooth connected to my smartphone and they sound pretty good.
I have the headphone mic sensitivity levels all the way down and I can only hear the music so I think I will try these out on a plane soon and other noisy environments. I went to the range yesterday and used my smartphone shot timer and it worked great. These headphones were simple to pair with the phone by holding down the Bluetooth button for 3 seconds then a voice tells you it is in pairing mode. After that once you have Bluetooth active on your smartphone etc all you do is press the Bluetooth button for a second and it will pair instantly. The 500's did a great job at the range of cutting down the range noise and did focus in on the sound of people talking due to it's super digital Hi-Tec matrix. There are two stereo mics on the front of the headphones that are recessed to reduce wind noise etc. If you have a smartphone or anything Bluetooth connected you adjust the volume of the input on that unit and adjust the mic pick up levels with the up down buttons on the headphones to find the balance between the two you wish to hear. You can advance, stop or go back a song by pressing the Bluetooth button once to stop. Twice to go forward and 3 times to go back a song. Answering calls is similar in that you press the Bluetooth to answer and press and hold to ignore the call.
So like I said I am listening to music with the headphones right now as I write and I think they sound great.
The 500's and the 300 models are the same except for the Bluetooth on the 500 models. So I imagine they are both comfy and
good to wear for long periods except the 300 is a little lighter. The headphone band fits well and has open spaces so you can wear over baseball caps. I called 3M to see if the replacement earphone gels fit the 500's and 300's and they told me they don't work with those models. I would ask you double check before you order replacement ear pads. However the 300 and 500 series are designed to accept a rechargeable Lithium Battery model Alpha 1100 - The Alpha 1100 battery comes with a short USB charging cord.
From what I understand for a few reviews is that the two AA batteries are a tight squeeze and these headphones are really designed to be used with the rechargeable battery. Their is a USB and a headphone jack under the control panel and you can charge the battery while installed.
I am sure it lasts a long time. I charged mine for a few hours when it arrived. A blue led blinks while charging and then is on solid when fully charged. Down at the bottom of the headphones they are cut away at an angle to work better with long guns. I had no problem and did not notice any interference using my carbine. The headphones fit great on my head and I guess I am average.
The 500's and the 300's come with a headphone cord and a silky carry sack.
So they fit well.
Comfy headband and ear cups.
They sound great.
They block loud noise.
They are automatic with impressive sound matrix tech the figures out the best setting for noises and voices
They take a rechargeable battery.
You can hook up phones ETC Bluetooth with 500's and plug in with 300's.
They fold up small and fit an a carry bag.
