This instrument quickly became, and has durably remained, my favorite hunting binocular, indeed my favorite just-about-anything binocular. Optically, the Pentax 10x15 DCF ED is the equal of my wonderful Leica 8x42 BA glass, and despite the relatively high magnification has a good depth of field. Mounted on a tripod, the ED makes an excellent glass for locating deer or elk at a distance; in fact, I'm happier with the Pentax in this regard than I am with my vaunted Zeiss 15 x 60 binocular. My sole criticism of the Pentax, and it is a minor one, is that it has a lesser field of view in comparison to many high-end 10X glasses. I must stress that I have not found this issue of practical importance.
Pros: Superb resolution, very bright, reasonably light, good depth of field, long eye relief
Cons: Reduced field of view
