Flawless fit

by GUNNUTT, Verified Owner from OH, United States Written on July 13, 2024
When mounted on a Ballistic Advantage fluted heavy barrel the fit is seamless at the point of contact making a very aesthetic appearance. Recoil is dampened as to stay on target and spotting impact through the scope,

Coating / Finish makes Internal Diameter of threads smaller.

by Wayne Meichsner, Verified Owner from GA, United States Written on October 24, 2023
1. Threads:

Do NOT just thread this on your barrel with out running a tap through it first. The bead blast medium leaves a thin coating on the threads. This diminishes the internal diameter of the threads enough to make the brake bind on your barrel. I thought I could thread it on and off a little but this just got the brake seized on my brand new barrel. I had to put the upper in a vise and wrench it off with lubricant. Now my brand new ballistic advantage barrel threads are boogered up and I have to run a die over them.

2. No flats for a wrench.

You might think that the flats along the top and bottom of the brake are for a wrench. They are too small and create too much contact pressure. Now I have wrench depressions and shiny spots on the finish where my wrench went. They should have milled two flats on the rear of the brake.

5/8 - 24 is not a common tap size. It is too big and too fine a pitch to be included in most tap / die sets, so you’ll be sitting with a messed up barrel AND brake until your special ordered tap and die arrive.

Do NOT buy unless you have a 5/8 - 24 tap and die set. Also ask yourself the question, “why do I have to run a tap though something I bought that should just work?”
Pros:
  • cool design
  • finish matches stainless beadblast finished barrels
Cons:
  • will seize on your barrel
  • have to run a tap through it
  • no actual wrench flats
Best Used for:
  • expensive paperweight
  • lesson in frustration
