Don's Review of Precision Reflex Pri Fixed Rail Mounted Front Sights

I ordered this because having a closed hood seems like a good idea in theory. When I received it, I noticed the sight post was off center. I thought maybe the sight post was bent so I proceeded in mounting it. After mounting it, I took my micrometer and measured between the sight post and both sides of the hood. It indeed was off center. So I took it out and swapped it out with an extra a2 sight post I had in my parts box. Was still off center (I checked the second sight post before installation by chucking it up in my drill. If it was bent it would wobble as it spun). Needless to say, I was incredibly disappointed. Second issue: the area where the mounting screw is, is absurdly wide for no apparent reason. It is very unsightly in my opinion. Third issue. The front face of the sight (the side farthest away from shooter) either sits behind or in front of the end of the rail by the thickness of a pic rail slot because of there the mounting screw is located which is also very unsightly and annoying in my opinion. I understand appearance isn't everything but it is important. The job of the front sight is to provide an incredibly precise point (side to side and up and down) to aim firearm. PRI didn't center the sight post in the sight! They had one job! Maybe two if you count making an aestheticly pleasing product which they failed at as well in my opinion
Pros:
  • In my experience, none.
Cons:
  • Poor manufacturing, poor design, unnecessarily bulky
Best Used for:
  • Returns
