Stefan McFarland's Review of Primary Arms SLx 1-6x24mm Gen III Rifle Scope, 30mm Tube, Second Focal Plane
Purchased this as a cheap "proof of concept" to use an LPVO. I've run an EOTECH with magnifier for a very long time and was happy with it, but my astigmatism was making it fairly difficult to make precise shots with the magnifier. Tried out a friends' LPVO and thought it might be worthwhile, but didn't want to go crazy on price. Primary use is hunting pigs in West Texas, secondary role of home defense weapon. Rifle is a Sig MCX Virtus Pistol with 11.5" barrel. Rifle is suppressed with a surefire socom mini and has a DBAL d2. Mount used is a Larue SPR with an RMR offset.
Chose the 7.62 x 39/300BLK reticle because the BDC matches better for my shorter barrel shooting 70gr barnes TSX.
Have to say I was very impressed with it this past weekend. Turrets were very precise and tracked perfectly for zeroing. Reticle very easy to pick up. Zero'd top Chevron at 100 and BDC was dead on out to 500 on steel. 600 steel needed a little more elevation, but darn close. Took only three rounds to hit 2/3 IPSC at 600 and get wind dialed in.
For the price, I don't think it can be beat. I'll continue to use for the next year and may consider upgrading to something fancier/more expensive, but honestly this may be perfectly good enough for my uses.
Solid product, would recommend.
