Kekoa Fleming's Review of Primary Arms PLx 1-8x24mm Compact LPVO Rifle Scope, 30mm Tube, First Focal Plane (FFP)
To start off, I really wanted to like this optic. It checks all of the boxes on paper; It's super light, has a good magnification range (1-8x), has a large field of view (more on that later), and is extremely compact.
- My number one issue with his optic is the eye box. At 8x the eye box is unreasonably tight it's so tight I get frustrated trying to aim with it as the slightest movement and you almost completely lose your sight picture.
- 1x or 0.75x? From just looking at anything with both eyes open you can clearly see that at "1x" everything is significantly smaller, which is probably how they cheat to get the larger field of view specs.
- For me at 1x the reticle is hard to pic up quickly, the center is extremely small, and the halo makes you guesstimate center which slowed me down compared to other ffp optics that I have. At 8x the reticle takes up quite a bit of real estate within the scope itself. I personally wish they would have made 1x a little larger and 8x a little smaller.
I am very sad that this scope didn't work out for me though as there really isn't much that comes close to these stats, especially in this price range.
I am not sure if I got a lemon, but the eye box at 8x seems unusable, and sadly I had to return it. I quite like the scope at 3-4x, however if I had to leave it at that magnification then there is no point as there are many other much cheaper options for a 3-4x optic.
I am comparing the eye box at max magnification to my Razor 1-6x and my Trijicon Creedo 1-8x.
