Legacy Reviewer's Review of ProMag Tactical Barrel Band For Ruger 10/22 Carbine Black PM185
I bought this band for two primary reasons. Firstly, I wanted to be able to easily attach a bipod to my rifle. Second, I wanted to attach a tactical sling to my stock. My stock did not have sling studs, so I did not want to drill holes. I sort of assumed that the rails on the band would be Picatinny style. To my disappointment, when I tried to attach my Picatinny bipod to the band, it would not fit. (Weaver slots are narrower than Picatinny.) I had to take a file and carefully widen one groove on the rail to make it fit. The band is made of aluminum, so it was relatively easy to do. This can be done to all the slots if so needed, just go slow and carefully. I also had to file down the underside of the side rail (opposite of the loop) since it was digging into my stock. I am happy with it now, but it could have been designed better. It would have also been better to have at least one slot on the bottom rail to be in the middle (like the one one the side) and not have two offset on either side. Sort of awkward the way it is now, but it works.
Pros: Lightweight, looks good and adds little bulk to the rifle. Handy for attaching a bipod or light. Has a sling loop, which is nice.
Cons: Just a tad expensive IMO. Has to be modified for most accessories that you will want to attach to it. The rails on the band are not Picatinny 1913, but weaver style.
