Carl49's Review of ProMag LVX SKS 20 Round 7.62x39mm Rifle Magazine w/ Lever Release
There have been many attempts at trying to modernize the SKS by converting to hi capacity mags.
There are also Russian, Chinese, Yugo and other SKS manufacturers. Stocks may be different betwwen these
affecting convertibilty.
I purchased the 20 rd version and it worked well with my Norinco SKS. Then purchased another 20 and 35 rd mag
from same manufacturer. Tested all 3 today and had a few problems. These were resolved and then worked fine.
Things to remember:
1. Oil up the "duckbill" so mag slips in well.
2. Bolt must be locked back in order to insert the mag. See youtube on how to do this.
3. Insert duckbill first so it catches on tab in mag well. Not doing this will result in FTF.
4. Pull mag back and lock lever release. I can't imagine buying one without the lever release.
5. After mag is expended bolt locks back and you can remove mag. This takes some practice.
Does not simply drop out.
6. Mag cannot be removed unless it is empty or at least I haven't found a way...yet.
Overall: If you have the right SKS for this item it increases capacity and feeds well, modernizing the SKS.
