Amber's Review of Pulsar Accolade XQ38 Thermal Binoculars
Ive had the Accolade for several weeks now and used it on about 5 hunts so far. This past weekend I used it for a 22hour, over night hog hunting tournament. Started using it for scanning around 8pm and didn't turn it off until 6am. Started off using the BPS battery holder which takes 3 AA batteries. I was please to find that it lasted 4.5 hours for me, I then switched over to the regular battery that the Accolade comes with which I used the remainder of the time hunting and it never died.
The Accolade unit itself preformed flawlessly allowing me to quickly locate and identify animals at long distances. I could clearly differentiate between deer/hog at distances of over 900 yards but could detect heat well over 1,800 yards. The picture remained clear and crisp despite humidity as we were hunting muddy bottom land near a river.
Overview of Pulsar Accolade XQ38:
-light weight and easy carrying with the neck strap
-clear crisp image allowing easy animal identification
-long battery life which lasted me the entire tournament
-LRF (rangfinder) allows you to easily and accurately gage how far away your target is. (this comes in handy as sometimes using a thermal can mess with your depth perception at night)
-Also has built in video recording with sound
Highly recommend this unit for hunting in wide open fields/spaces. Takes some getting used to for scanning in the woods or in tighter spaces as the base magnification is 3.1
