Probably the best consumer grade thermal monocular out there. - Pulsar Helion XP28 1.4-11.2x22mm Thermal Imaging Monocular

I actually bought this from OpticPlanet when it first came out, but didn't want to review it until I had it for a while. I think it's the best consumer grade thermal out there, if you look at some of the online video reviews, you can see there is almost no equal to its image and resolution detail. It has a lot of features, but you really have to know what buttons are which, and dig through menus to get there, so it is very advantageous to get familiar with it and to RTFM before going on that trip WITHIN the United States. Being able to change lenses is a real plus (I just bought the 50mm lens for $850...yikes!), but being able to change lenses comes at a price, as it is right around 2 inches longer than a FLIR Scout III. Battery replacability was also something I look for when buying electronics that I'm planning to keep for the long term, and this unit filled that check box. My unit came shipped without the hand strap, but I called Pulsar and they sent one within a week. All in all I'm very satisfied with Unit, what would I like to see in future units? A dedicated button to scroll through ALL the color palates, a shorter length and less bulky carry case. I read the,first review, an d I think he's reviewing the wrong item, as per his quote "lost focus after every shot", this is not the rifle scope version!, and to all the folks reading this out there that didn't read the manual, there is a front focus ring that you need to use to get the absolute best picture.
