San Porco's Review of Puma Knives Germany Rudemann 40 Fixed Blade Knife
My very first Puma knife ever acquired and even though it is very expensive, I'm more than happy to have this German Beauty in my collection.
I had mine shipped directly from Germany since no knife seller here in Japan makes it available and I may be the only person who owns this here.
Holding in my hand, I've noticed that this knife is really chunky and heavy for its size, though it is about the same length as KA-BAR USMC combat knife, and I've found out later that it is heavier than the famous KA-BAR BK2 Campanion (It weighs over 1lb)! Its blade heaviness tells me that this knife is ideal for hacking and chopping and is to be treated as a hatchet or small machete. The blade is very thick and beefy but has a razor-sharp factory edge (I accidently slashed my hand while doing some cutting test with newspaper).
Since its conception in 1950s, Rüdemann is known as one of the "4 Hunting Side Arms" by Puma and it is originally designed to clear the bush while following the dogs on hunt, finish the kill and quarter wild game on hunting ground.
The stag scales on the handle are absolutely beautiful and instead of brass, the bolster and pommel are made of precision-cast nickel silver which is much more corrosion-resistant and the aroma of genuine leather sheath that comes with the knife is just irresistible.
It is a bona fide hunting knife born to rule deep down in the woods and despite its beauty, it is designed to devour flesh and blood of wild game.
Beste Grüße aus Tokio, Japan.
