Most Helpful Positive Review redfield 20x60x80
sharp clear optics ,can rotate scope for best position, very well made. nice view thru case.tripod ok. great for the range.bird watching, astronomy Pros: sharp clear optics, sturdy, good value Cons: zoom slightly stiff
Most Helpful Negative Review For the money, its very good.
Well-made and durable. Up to around 20 power or so, image is very clear and sharp around the edge. At higher powers, however, edge get progressively fuzzier to where its like looking thru a tunnel. Focusing at the higher powers is problematic because of this and the "smidgin" (sorry Obama) of foc...

WOW! Best scope EVER

by Jamal, Verified Owner from SC, United States Written on July 24, 2020
I cannot believe how good this Redfield 80mm scope is. Optics are SUPER clear, and the unit is built VERY well. Very solid.
1,000 yards is very clear, targets much further than that won't be a problem. I'm a video pro & familiar with good glass, I'm very impressed.

Wildlife Guide

by Audi, from MT, United States Written on July 9, 2020
As a wildlife guide in Yellowstone National Park, viewing wolves and bears from afar is my job. I set up my scope next to others that are 10x the price and my Rampage is just as good optically! Great product!

Redfield Rampage 20-60x80

by Mike, Verified Owner from CA, United States Written on June 17, 2020
Great spotting scope for the price. I can easily determine hits at 200 yards on splatter targets. Focus knob is very smooth and I like that it has an integrated sun shade. Tripod is decent for bench mount and the case is great. I don't have a $1000 scope to compare too but I am very happy with my purchase.

Redfield Rampage Spotting Scope

by JS, from IA, United States Written on June 7, 2020
I purchased this spotting scope as a first time buyer. Based on reviews and price. Felt it did meet my expectations however couldn't get use to the angle eye piece. So sent it back to exchange for a Vortex

Pretty decent scope for the price

by Kazesim, from CA, United States Written on April 28, 2020
I've had this scope for about 7 years now, just using it off and on for birding, and for the $300 I originally paid for it it's pretty much what I'd expect. The clarity and brightness at 20x are excellent, 60x not so much, so I limit it to about 40x as that's where I seem to get peak detail on the image; zooming in beyond that won't help me identify a distant bird. I like the padded sleeve that it comes with and just leave that on all the time. (It's a total pain to get it back on once you take it off anyway.) It helps a lot to prevent the scope from heating up in the sun, and protects it from scratches, which happen *very* easily. A word of warning here: another reason to keep the sleeve on is because the front lens cap can fall off easily if one of it's spring-loaded tabs get bumped by anything, since they're positioned on the edge of it. The sleeve seems to help prevent that. The back lens cap by contrast is unnecessarily secure, being a cup that screws on over the whole eyepiece with a very long and fine thread. The focus knob is excellent - no need for dual focus on this thing - but the zoom ring is a little stiff for my liking - it's hard to keep on target while zooming without locking the tripod down. It has a sun shade which I use all the time, and the twist-out eyecup is still working after being twisted in and out a thousand times.

I lost the little mini tripod it came with years ago but I don't remember being too impressed with it. I replaced it pretty quickly wit...

priced right

by sharpeeye, from NJ, United States Written on April 8, 2020
have not used for shooting yet. seems very clear 20-40 power. At higher powver loses some clarity, although during the day useful. For the price it will work just fine for shooting out to 300 yds at the range.

  • bench shooting

Great range scope.

by Ryan, from OR, United States Written on January 7, 2020
I received this spotting scope as a gift for christmas. My gun club has a 200/300 yard range and I can see the 300 yard hits clearly even without splatter targets. I may use it hunting although it is a bit bulky. I have not compared it to an extremely expensive scope so I can't comment on that. For a target scope at normal ranges it works just fine and is is a great value.

Good Value

by dc9mm, from NY, United States Written on December 17, 2018
I bought several spotting scopes to try them for myself. I had no choice because reviews are hard to figure out anything. I was shooting 22 and 223 caliber. Now my eyes are NOT great. I tried a Leupold SX-1 Ventana 2 Spotting Scope 20-60x 80mm which was 150 bucks more with no tripod. I also tried a friends Bushnell 20-60 but not sure what model. Also a Meade Wilderness Spotting Scope, 20-60x100. Plus I looked through a Vortex Viper. Now the Viper was best but just a little bit better. also richer colors. But a Viper is over a grand. For the money the Redfeild is your best buy. You need to spend at least a grand to beat it. I can easily see the whole at 100 yards on a regular target. Splatter targets no problem at 200 BUT at 300 yard with splatter I can just make out were the hits are. Iam struggling at 300 yards with splatter targets. If I used paper plates and stapled them back wards so they stick up from back stop a 1/4 inch I can see wholes at 200 yards on them too. . 50 yards were i mainly shoot my 22lr I can easily see at that short a range.; Dont even need 60 powwer maybe 30 power.. Its clear at all powers. It could use the double focus knob some of the pricier scopes have were it is a finer adjustment on the second focus knob. this scope doesn't have that feature.
Pros:
  • Nice little tripod, clear view
Cons:
  • Could use a double type focus knob
Best Used for:
  • Shooting up to 200 yards

Great scope fro the price

by RB, Verified Owner from FL, United States Written on December 2, 2018
I was a little skeptical of this spotting scope. It was reasonably priced by a manufacture I wasn't familiar with so i just wasn't sure how much I would like it. Came in and tool it to the range. Nice case, good feel, lens caps, movable eye piece, nice focus, clear, and easy to use. The stand is a little weak, but I am gentle with things so it should be a problem. Over all I am very pleased with this and it sure has made seeing my shots at 100 yards easier. Thanks Optics Planet.
Pros:
  • Price
  • Clear
Cons:
  • tripod not that sturdy
Best Used for:
  • the range
