Typical remington junk manufacturing process - Remington Seven Short Action Stock Assembly

Bought this to replace the nice wood stick on my model seven 7-08 since it will be strictly hunting gun, didn’t wanna beat up the nice wood and lose a little weight. OP had free shipping and was $5 cheaper than most other places, so why not? Received the stock the next week and put the action in it. Took it to the range, shot like “fecal matter”. Hmm, stock is touching my footed barrel at the top of the stock. I sand it down a little and try again, still shooting terrible. Try the dollar bill float test, nothing. Ended up having to router close to 1/8” from the tip of the barrel channel and along the sides of the barrel channel. After closer inspection, the stock is warped on the barrel channel area and angles to the left. Extremely frustrated to say the least that Remington can let junk like this out their door, gone is the name of Remington for quality. Optics planet had a good price and shipping was fine, nothing bad in that end, but my frustration is all on Remington. My fault for not thoroughly checking the straightness, but assumed that a new stock shouldn’t have issues like this and now that I’ve modified it, I’m stuck with it. Save you money and buy a nice Boyd’s or similar quality stock if you need one.
