Alex's Review of RISE Armament RA-140 Super Sporting Trigger

Hands down best trigger I’ve ever touched. Made me realize I prefer single stage triggers, as I have a Gieselle SSA 2-stage in my 16” rifle and I used to believe the Gieselle had no friction at all, however this trigger has somewhat spoiled me. I attribute this smoothness to the larger effective trigger pin diameter inherent to drop in style triggers, as the Gieselle sear surface is mirror glass, the only friction in it must be due to the mil spec trigger pins. I’ll be swapping the Gieselle out for a curved version of this trigger as soon as I get the funds! I’m really glad I tried the straight trigger and will keep it due to aesthetics of the build it’s in, however I think I’ll stick to curved triggers in the future, not bashing the straight trigger, it’s just a bit different and I have lots of muscle memory developed with curved triggers in ARs as well as other platforms. I also can’t justify spending any more than this on a trigger today, I’ve fired a friends AR with Timney Trigger he says was over $300, with both guns side by side the Timney did have less creep, and it is adjustable to obtain a lighter pull than the Ra-140, however he has it set up heavier than mine is anyway, which comes to my final word of caution: Don’t put this trigger in a duty carbine, hunting rifle, or home defense gun. The trigger is WAY to light and reset is way to short for adrenaline pumping or life threatening situations.
Pros:
  • Affordable, drop-in, frictionless
Cons:
  • Pull is too light for tactical use
Best Used for:
  • Competition, Training, Target Shooting
