dealsmadepainless's Review of Riton Optics RT-S Mod 7 4-32x56mm IR Rifle Scope

To begin this review it is only fair to say that my experience with longer range optics as been limited to the following brands; Vortex Viper, and Nikon Black x1000. Each scope, while not top their by no means, has filled their respective roles admirably, but I found myself searching for something a bit more robust. I spent several months scouring the internet and watched countless reviews of what many a seasoned marksman said was the must need glass for the ultimate long range experience. The problem is for what I intend to do, I cannot justify spending 3000 plus on a singular piece oh optical hardware regardless of how exceptional it is. So sticking to a well rounded budget of around 1000 or so dollars I happened upon the Riton Mod7 4-32x56 (which has been offered on this website and others at or near the 900 dollar mark). It has the necessary features that I am in the market for; Japanese glass of good ocular quality, good turrents that (so far) seem to track reliably with zero stop, a vast girth of magnification range, and a no nonsense we replace it regardless warranty. A nice added boot is the throw lever which is an absolute must for me when I find myself prone and unwilling to shift from a comfy position. All in all I find it difficult (when said scope can be obtained on sale) to pass up. As I stated before I have owned some decent mid priced scopes and the Riton is better in all regards. Is it better than a Sig Tango6 or a Primary Arms Platinum or a Vortex Razor HD? It's probably not quiet there, but it's also not 1500 to 2000 dollars either. All in all for a sub 1000 dollar scope (at times) I have not set behind any better.
Pros:
  • nothing in the sub 1k price range can touch it's features
Cons:
  • if not onsale other options similarly priced would warrant a consider
