AT's Review of Riton Optics X3 Tactix 1-8x24mm Rifle Scope

Riton champions a bang-for-your-buck approach with their optics, however this particular model is not that. I’d even argue the opposite. The features are nothing more or less than the competition, but the quality, overall workmanship, glass, etc, are more comparable to scopes that cost 30-40% less. Cons: eye box is atrociously unforgiving, major fisheye at 1x, glass clarity is so-so for the price point, the scope caps? Why even include them they’re so terrible (like so bad they give the entire scope a cheap look and feel), typos in the product manual and reference to parallax adjustments that don’t exist on this model instill a sense of “made in China” (which is not disclosed anywhere on product or packaging). Pros: good reticle design, very bright illumination, lighter than some other 1-8 options, color. In conclusion, this scope is good, not great. It’s on par in terms of quality and features with the Primary Arms lower tier 1-6/1-8s or the Vortex Strike Eagle (reminds me a lot of the Strike Eagle), good but not great. Maybe great if it were ~$275 and not ~$400. Ironic, considering Riton’s mantra. At ~$400 there are hands down better options, Athlon Argos BTR gen 2 1-8 comes to mind. Or if willing to drop to a 1-6x, the Burris RT6 absolutely blows this Riton out of the water. I’ll be keeping it for now just to see how much life I can get out of it, and if Riton’s warranty is as good as they say when I can’t anymore, but this scope just doesn’t excite me. I don’t see or feel the bang-for-your-buck, I feel like I paid more than This scope is truly worth because it came in FDE. I just can’t recommend this scope at this price, it’s fine, an ok scope, but man this thing looks and feels cheaper than $400.

Cons:
  • Underwhelming Glass Quality
  • Scope Caps, Riton baby, what is you doin?
  • Value? Where is it?
  • Non-disclosed country of origin
  • Typos and errors in manual
