Big Bobby P's Review of Riton Optics X3 Tactix 1-8x24mm Rifle Scope

Be aware that this is a rating on initial impression only. This rating may change once I get more time with it.

Scope came securely and attractively packaged. It comes with flip up scope covers.

The HD glass is clear out to the edges with minimal distortion around the edges. Not noticeable while aiming. 1x allows both eyes open shooting. 8x is very clear but eye box becomes very tight in low lighting. This is where I would have liked to see a 34mm tube with larger objective, but for this price point, well, you aren't going to find that.

Illumination is definitely daylight bright. Much brighter than my Trijicon Accupower. This is subjective as to me daylight illumination is not a necessary feature on a well designed reticle. Speaking of witch, the reticle is very useful. Nice center dot with a horseshoe for quick targeting at close range but precise enough for medium range work.

Turrets are VERY nice with nice solid clicks. You can feel and hear each click.

Another nice touch is the removable throw lever. I don't think this will be removed by many people as it is unobtrusive. But, this brings me to another small gripe I have (as well as with other Riton scopes I have tried). The magnification adjustment is pretty stiff. Not a real problem with the throw handle installed, but probably too stiff without it.

One gripe I have with ALL optics companies is the inability to be transparent with where an optic is manufactured. I have handled a few Riton scopes from their older lineup and every scope was marked with a country of manufacture (From China to Japan) depending on the features of the scope. This country of manufacture is not located anywhere on the scope or on the packaging making me believe that this particular model is manufactured in China. For some that means something, for others it doesn't. It is something I do take into consideration but it is not a disqualifying feature. I do know that it drives me nuts when I can't find this information as it does tend to help make informed decisions.

I will try to give a more thorough review after I get some extended time at the range with it.
