Although this holster rides nice and high, it's not a very good choice for concealment. The holster is bulky and it doesn't pull the butt of the gun close into the body like a good pancake holster would. Perhaps it would conceal a bit better with the paddle attachment.
The biggest disappointment is the ALS. There's a plastic piece inside that's supposed to catch on the ejection port. It worked perfectly for a month or so, but after practicing a few times a week for 10 minutes at a time, the piece wore down enough that it has become possible to pull the gun out with the SLS hood rotated forward without disengaging the ALS with my thumb. I have effectively lost one level of retention.
I emailed Safariland about this issue, but I haven't heard back yet. I've never seen this problem reported elsewhere, so I suspect it may be more prone to happening with the Beretta PX4 than with the more popular Glocks. I hope a solution can be found because it's otherwise a great holster for open carry.
One other note: when ordering from Optics Planet, email Sales first to see if the item you want is in stock. If it isn't, there's a good chance a very similar item you'd be equally happy with is in stock.
Pros: suede lining, holster fits gun very well, solid construction, disengagement of retention is natural and easy to learn
Cons: Too bulky for concealment and ALS mechanism wore out.
