Lionbacker's Review of Safariland COMP II Speedloader - Ambidextrous J-GL8C
I purchased two of these Safariland speedloaders for use with an S&W 586. After reading a number of positive reviews, I decided to give these a try, as I have two of a competing brand that I use with another revolver.
This speedloader is incredibly easy to prepare and, while the instructions show using your fingers to hold the cartridges in place when inverting it, I found using a piece of stiff paper to work much better. Once inverted, the cartridges are locked into place with a small turn of the knob.
What impressed me immediately was that the cartridges are held in place quite securely and do not rattle around very much at all. Probably due to the secure and firm hold, everything lines up perfectly when inserting the cartridges into your revolver's cylinder. Holding the speedloader by its side, a little push drops and releases all rounds instantly. My other speedloaders typically require some "jiggling" of the unit to get the cartridges lined up and released.
Finally, I found no issue with use of the speedloader with the Hogue nylon grips on my 586.
Great product!
