Sam's Review of Safariland - TCI Liberator Hearing Protection with Adaptive Over-the-Head Suspension

The product appears to be great quality, the materials are top notch and the gel cups are extremely comfortable. The gel cups help to prevent headaches after hours of wearing them unlike my peltor comtac III. The audio quality is great with multiple volume levels. The three different audio functions are a nice touch especially if I’m in a constantly loud environment like an APC or being around loud machinery. The rubber cage around the foam/mic is also a nice touch. I’ve lost those foam pieces on my peltors multiple times. The profile of the ears don’t interfere with running a rifle. They also fold up nice for storage. I’m not sure how well they work with a helmet as my peltors are dedicated to my ballistic helmet. I’ve used the liberators for general range work, with a variety of 5-20 team guys shooting SBRs and they have no problem blocking the loud noise and still allowing me to provide instructions at a normal tone. The loud tones are just dampened and not completely cut out like some lesser quality brands. I have not used the liberators in a CQB shoot house environment so I cannot advise how well they work with the additional concussion from that environment. So far I am completely happy with my purchase and expect these to last a long time.
Pros:
  • Comfort and sound quality
Cons:
  • No aftermarket support for headband covers
  • If I want to upgrade to comms I have to send it back to safariland. Modularity at the user end would be nice.
Best Used for:
  • Shooting and communicating
