Beans's Review of Safariland Model 6280 SLS Level-II Duty Glock Holster, STX Tactical
Hello all,
I wanted a good holster for the range and this SLS Safariland checked all the boxes. I’m a newbie at holstering. I did already have a belt and pad from an actual rigging job. I’d wear the rigger’s belt to clip in when I didn’t need the full on theatre rigging harness. NOW, it’s my range belt.
This holster at $31 was perfect. Retailed at $180 give or take. Whatever you pay, the education is invaluable. I learned so much and I can now navigate most Safariland 6000 series holsters with confidence.
The SLS (self locking system) is the u-shaped yoke. When the SLS yoke is down- depressed the holster has only the passive retention of friction. It is set by the side adjustment screw (hex wrench provided with almost every kit that comes with screws). I run mine just tight enough for the screw washer not to rattle with thread lock (snug on STX shell but did not tighten on firearm). Easy draw and does not come out upside-down. No cartwheels just upside down with a gentle shake.
I replaced the 2” UBL with a 1.75 CUBL and installed QLS. $100 shipped with OP discounts. My draw at speed may- will most likely require a leg strap. I removed that big fin as well so, it’s just the SLS system and still at level 2 retention. I’m ordering another closeout Safariland holster but in ALS/ SLS this time. I ordered the Safariland leg strap kit with the swivel for a medium ride CUBL. I ordered the blue force leg strap as a precaution because it was different in angle and mount to UBL.
I’m equipping all three of my range pistols with a Safariland 6000 series. ALS if I can help it.
All of my pistols are without a light so, your search results may vary in $$ and availability. I’m now a huge fan of Safariland belt ride 6000 holsters.
Thanks OP. I can afford to range safely. I can afford a lot of things with 80-85% discount. QLS complete cost almost $10 more than the holster.
