Evolution or revolution??? - Samson Evolution 10in Series Handguard

Handguards are a dime a dozen these days, so make your dollar count. The Samson line is incredibly well thought out and functional. If you are in search of a slim line forend that you can run slick or customize, placing picatiny, hand stops, bipod adapter, foregrips, QD cups anywhere you want along its length, in 15 increments (0,15,30,45,60, etc. rather than just 30,60,90...) then you've found it. This series of handguard attaches by clamping onto two machined aluminum heat transfer collars that surround the OEM type barrel nut std on your AR.
There is no need to remove the original barrel nut to instal. If there is no sight tower on your gun then it simply can slide over the barrel...providing the accessories you attach don't interfere! Once aligned by the anti-rotation tabs machined into the rail, you simply tighten down onto the barrel nut/mounting plate hardware. As with a lot of Free float hand guards, the longer, the less stable. Not the case with the Samson-EVO's. Ive used carbine, mid length, and on this custom 3gun competition rifle, the 15" hand guard is rock solid. I've ran it several weeks now and other than loosening the screws and applying some blue loctite after I was assure it was what I wanted and where, it is staying put!

Accessory modules attach w/ screws via backing plates that engage groves along the inside of the tube. Once set up, I had to remove one of mine and fish around the gas block holding in place with a section of cleaning rod or a 1/8" dowel. This is the only reason why I gave it a 4 for setup, rather than a 5. It's not as simple to arrange accessories as a typical quad rail, but that's the sacrifice of having a slimmer, lighter tube. On the up side there's definitely more versatility!

The bottom line is, if you've familiarized yourself with the features of this product and understand the value of being able to locate accessories where YOU want them, not where you have to mount them, then there is NO reason not to buy this item. As far as there being any issue with handrail being pulled off, as stated in previous review, I put my guns through extreme conditions and do not find this to be a likely issue. If you needed extra assurance, placing red loctite between free float tube and spacers or even drilling and tapping a small machine screw is possible. The fact is, installed correctly and properly torqued down, its just not gonna happen.

Buy with confidence....I'm back for no. 6!!!
