Exceptionally well made. suboptimal design. - Savior Equipment American Classic Double Rifle Case

The materials and workmanship of the savior shorty bag are outstanding. I have nothing but great things to say about what its made of and how its put together. But now that I have it in person, there are some design decisions I think are suboptimal.

The double shorty compartment is designed like many other bags - with 2 straps and 2 corner pockets per PDW. But I would prefer if these compartments instead had molle background with 2 or 3 (or more) velcro straps that can be positioned by the user to give a custom secure fit tailored to each gun. With this approach you could get 2 PDWs into one pocket, saving on weight and cost. Or you could get other items like pistols or pouches secured in the gaps around the PDW/SMG.

The other inner large pocket has 2 more flat pockets that are intended to hold 2 pistols or other items. These pockets are sewn flush with the back panel, and have velro closures. When the rest of the bag is empty, these flat pockets can easily hold pistols or other items. But when you have 2 PDWs in the main pocket, it is extremely difficult to separate the Velcro and get anything in or out of the flat pockets. These pockets need some gussets for easier opening when the PDW compartment is full, or they should be replaced by a molle backing that can accommodate straps for pistols or pouches.

The front outer pockets have shock cord to further constrict them for a snug hold on whats inside. I find the shock cords ad too much / too many bulky snag points to the front of the bag when the pockets are empty and fully constricted, and they still over-constrict the pockets when the cords are fully elongated. I think these pockets would be better if they omitted the shock cord and had zipper closures rather than clips. I bought this bag for 2 pistol caliber PDWs (Stribog and PC Charger) that both take glock 33 fun sticks. These pockets dont quite fit the fun sticks. It would be awesome if the middle pocket was optimized for fun sticks.

Lastly are the straps. I think there are too many straps on the outside. There are 2 over the top and 2 under the bottom. I can see that someone might want to clip something in these, like shooting sticks or tripod, but for me they are excessive and are just more snag points. These should be omitted or should be removable (without cutting) and replaceable.

But if you like these design decisions (which seem very common on other bags like this), you will love the Savior shorty.
